Vinted Members Share Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
